Hillel Capital Project
The new house has been designed to be eco-friendly, making it the first "green" Hillel House. Generations of UC Davis and Sacramento State students will learn the importance of acting on Judaism's teachings on the environment: Baal Tashchit, do not destroy the earth; and Shomrei Adamah, be caretakers of the earth.
In the past few years, Jewish activities and participation on campus have increased from two to ten active student groups. The calendar of events has exploded from a few per month to over 300 a year to keep pace with the ongoing dramatic growth in the Jewish student population.
Our mission is to serve the growing Jewish population in Davis and Sacramento for years to come, while designing a LEED standard Hillel House as a model for new communal and university buildings that conserve and preserve our precious water and energy resources.
Just a few of our eco-friendly features:
the Peninsula, Marin, and Sonoma Counties, and the Koret Foundation.
