Eisendrath Legislative Assistants (LAs) advocate in Washington, DC for Jewish values and Social Justice on behalf of the Reform Jewish Movement. LAs take part in a wide range of social action activities including monitoring legislative activity, developing synagogue social action programming, coordinating special events, creating educational materials, planning and running weekend conferences for teens, and mobilizing the grassroots of American Jewry.

Haas/Koshland Memorial AwardEach year, the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund invites students to apply for the Haas/Koshland Memorial Award, which provides up to $20,000 to support a year of study and personal development in Israel. The award is open to college students, from sophomore year through graduate school, who are from, or attend school in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Submit an application form and a brief statement outlining how your interests would be uniquely enhanced by a year's residence in Israel. Two letters of recommendation are required, one personal and one academic. Travel would begin in Fall/Summer 2012.

Director of Public Affairs for the Consulate General of Israel
The Consulate General of Israel serves the Pacific Northwest Region of the United States: Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Alaska. The Consulate is an official office of the Government of Israel.
The Director of Public Affairs is responsible for the planning and execution of the press, public affairs, and communications work of the Israeli Consulate throughout the six states in our region.
The Director of Public Affairs functions as the press agent and public liaison of the Israel Consulate, and is responsible for reaching out, responding, and forming relationships with traditional and new media. She/he is in charge of developing and implementing projects with key ethnic, cultural, political and religious communities throughout the region. The position is also responsible for monitoring the media and preparing a daily collation on important political developments and other issues in the region.
The Director of Public Affairs works closely with the Deputy Consul General and the Consul General. She/he is responsible for achieving specific elements of the work plan. She/he must be a hardworking self-starter able to produce new ideas, but also capable of taking instruction. The Public Affairs Officer must be judicious but aggressive; able to work at the level of high policy as well as at all levels of implementation.
Primary Responsibilities
- Monitoring news coverage, political and current events in Israel and our 6 state region
- Proactive outreach and work with the press
- Coordinating and responding to information requests and public affairs issues on a daily basis
- Managing and producing content for the Consulate’s internet presence – including website, Facebook, Twitter, and other media channels
- Developing relationships and projects engaging community organizations, leaders, civic institutions, and the general public
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Two years of experience in Public Affairs, PR or related field
- Superior writing and editing skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships
- Planning and organizing skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of the Bay Area different communities
- Knowledge of the Israeli culture, history and society
- Ability to be thoughtful and effective in fast-paced, high-pressure situations
- Expensive knowledge of regional, national and Israeli media - a plus

Job announcement for KESHER COORDINATOR
Ten month, part time position to develop and coordinate a new post B’nai Mitzvah program for 50-60 teens 8th-12th grades, called Kesher, for Congregation B’nai Israel, Sacramento. Person will also serve as advisor to on going Temple Senior Youth Group: B’nai Israel Senior Youth (BISY). We seek a person who can relate well to teens, has excellent coordination and organizational skills, can help hire teachers, market program, develop registration process, research curriculum, work with teachers to ensure classrooms are highly experiential and engaging, develop one to two camp-like weekend student retreats. Sacramento Entrereneurship Academy
Selected candidates engage in an eight-month fellowship program designed to fast track start-up success. SEA members learn from adn interact with business leaders, develop and present a business plan, and become part of a growing netowrk of budding and seasoned entrepreneurs. These future entrepreneurs receive hands-on, practical training on the core lements behind launching a successful business. The environment presents a no-risk approach to taking the first steps. Successful graduates have access to the sEA comunity, consisting of past graduates-turned-entrepreneurs and the board- a group of successful business founders, funders, and high level servie providers along with their network.
Applications for 2011 will be accepted until October 12th. Cost for the entire program is $495. Scholarships are available.
