VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE

UC DAVIS EVENT OBSERVER SERVICE

I am pleased to announce that the UC Davis Event Observer Service is

accepting volunteer applications.  If you are interested in serving the

campus community and gaining skills as an impartial observer at events,

please apply and encourage others to apply.

What is the Event Observer Service?  The mission of the Event Observer

Service (EOS) is to provide trained volunteers to serve as impartial

observers at events, including protests and demonstrations on campus, where

there is the potential for illegal activity, violation of campus

regulations, or police response.  The role of the impartial observers is to

observe events and report impartially on acts observed.  They do not

interpret or evaluate actions or behaviors, give advice, or mediate any

conflict.

EOS is managed by the Office of Campus Community Relations and will be in

operation in Fall of 2015.  Academics, retirees, undergraduates, graduate

and professional students, and staff are eligible to serve as volunteers.

The deadline for volunteer applications is May 23, 2014.  Volunteer

applications and more information can be found at

http://occr.ucdavis.edu/event_observer_service/.
