Volunteer at Hillel

Hillel at Davis and Sacramento is seeking students (undergrad and grad) who want to make a positive difference on the UCD and CSUS Jewish community.  We are looking for volunteers for everything we do (and don't yet do!)  Maybe you want to help cook.  Or perhaps you want to try leading Shabbat services.  Or we can create a tailor-made volunteer opportunity for you.   Turn something you love to do into a resume-building opportunity that will be invaluable to you when you graduate.  For more information, e-mail Mike at programs@hillelhouse.org

Overnight Summer Camp Counselors, Camp Yofi - Irvine CA (Posted 5/20/08)

Camp Yofi, the Merage JCC resident camp in Irvine, California, is still looking for a few summer camp counselors to complete its staffing for the 2008 season.  Camp Yofi’s summer facility is located in the beautiful San Bernardino Mountains near Big Bear.   Our facility enables us to provide recreational, social, spiritual, religious, and cultural activities that the bigger Jewish over night camps offer.   At the same time, our more intimate setting serving fewer campers enables counselors to have a significant impact (within reason) on the culture of the camp.   The fact that Camp Yofi is a young camp, we will be entering out third encampment this summer, gives counselors an opportunity to test their creative skills (again within reason) that more established camps with longer histories do not provide.  Camp Yofi staff orientation starts on Monday, July 7, 2008.  Our summer camp sessions end on August 1, 2008.  A Camp Yofi counselor position requires a four (not eight or ten) week calendar commitment. That means the months of June and August are free to get ready for school, work, or whatever other endeavors you are engaged in traveling on your life journey.  If you will be eighteen years of afge in September of 2008 (or are older) and want to work with Jewish children this summer in a rustic camp setting and be a positive Jewish role model for them, please respond to this email.  If you know someone that age or older who would like the challenge that a Camp Yofi Counselor position presents, please share this e-mail with them as well.  We offer the opportunity of a life time at a competitive over night summer camp counselor salary rate.

For information, contact:  Elliot Fein, Camp Yofi, Resident Camp Director elliotf@jccoc.org
